RESCCUE, a key player in ECCA 2019

The 4th European Climate Change Adaptation conference (ECCA 2019) was a great success. RESCCUE, as one of the three EU-funded projects organising this event, put huge efforts to make it happen. Not only as part of the organising committee, but also during the three days of the conference, RESCCUE played a key role in the largest event on climate change adaptation in Europe.

This year’s edition of ECCA was held from 28th to 31st May in Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB), in Lisbon (Portugal) – in southern Europe for the first time. The conference provided a space to facilitate dialogue among a diverse range of actors from academia, government, business and community on the multiple aspects of climate change adaptation.

Being held in southern Europe was not the only novelty for ECCA 2019 since the conference sold out for the first time. More than 1,200 experts attended the conference, representing leading international bodies from research, policymaking, national, regional and local authorities, practitioners, and non-governmental organizations, as well as the business sector, entrepreneurs and start-ups associated with climate services.

Almost 20 representatives from RESCCUE attended the conference, and 12 presentations referring the work within the project were carried out, including oral presentations, posters and the RAF app and HAZUR tool demos. Some RESCCUE partners were interviewed and more than 20 appearances in media and 80 social media impacts were registered.

Being part of ECCA 2019 has been a great and challenging experience for RESCCUE, and a great push for the partners to face the last year of the project full of energy and hard work.
